I am an associate professor at Appalachian State University, where my research and teaching focus on environmental policy and governance. I also direct the Master of Arts in Political Science Program in the Department of Government and Justice Studies. Major themes in my current research include policy dynamics of forest and land management, and nature-based solutions to climate change, such as carbon offset programs. I rely on theoretically-explicit inquiry, multi-method approaches, and interdisciplinary collaborations to address questions of relevance to environmental governance.
